EU promised to provide nearly 6 billion euros to support Syria

Participants in the Ninth Syria Conference, which took place on March 17 in Brussels, promised to allocate a total of 5.8 billion euros in total.

Details: According to Shuika, the Syria conference “confirmed our adamant support”.

“The total amount of the promised grants and loans for the Syrian people and the region reached 5.8 billion euros, of which 2.5 billion is a promise for grant grants,” she listed.

The European Commissioner noted that the EU and Member States account for 80% of all grants that Syria will receive.

Germany separately stated that it will allocate an additional EUR 300 million to help Syria through the UN structures.

Brussel’s policy change in Syria began after Bashar Assad regime was overthrown in December 2024.

In January, the EU agreed to lift sanctions from several key sectors of the Syrian economy.
