The National Bank commented on March 11 in February 2025 on the basis of the State Statistics Service. According to the regulator, inflation accelerated to 13.4% in the annual dimension, in the monthly dimension the price increased by 0.8%.

“The dynamics of consumer inflation was close to the trajectory of the National Bank’s forecast, published in the inflationary report for January 2025. At the same time, the basic inflation continued to exceed the expectations due to the further increase in business costs, in particular for wages, ”the message reads.

In particular, the rise in price of raw products has accelerated – prices increased by 13%:

“Fruits, some livestock products, flour and cereals under the influence of low -last year’s yields were more expensive. Pork, chicken and sugar prices were approaching the prices of trade partners against sustainable exports. ”

Instead, the rise in the price of vegetables “slowed down” by expanding the supply due to imports, a new greenhouse crop and a decrease in demand for separate positions.

The rise in price of processed foodstuffs last month accelerated to 16.7% in the annual dimension. The regulator explains such dynamics by rising food raw materials, as well as increasing the costs of enterprises for electricity, wages and logistics.

“Bread and some bread products, oil, meat and dairy products were highly expensive. Due to the rise in prices in the world markets, individual imported goods, including cheeses, tea, coffee and chocolate, were more expensive, ”the NBU said.

Prices for non -food products have increased at a low rate to 4.4% to a year, prices for clothing and shoes “remained lower than last year”. It is also insignificant – up to 14.3% of the year – increased the increase in the cost of services. In particular, health care services, transport services, communication, rest and cultural events have risen. Personal care services, insurance and financial services were slower.

The cost of excisable products increased faster due to the further increase in production costs, as well as adjusting prices in view of the strengthening of measures to combat the shadow supply and the probable impact of the expected test implementation of E-Acasis.

“In February, the rise in fuel prices has accelerated compared to January, primarily due to the high rates of increasing the cost of a motorway. At the same time, gasoline supply, competition in the gas station market and optimization of import supply logistics kept the rise in price of fuel, ”the NBU adds.

The other day the NBU Chairman Andriy Pyshny predicted that inflation would grow In the coming months, the regulator will help reduce inflation to 5%.

In January, inflation accelerated to 12.9%. According to the NBU, in February it increased. But, as noted by the NBU, such trends were expected and in general responded to the forecast.
