Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine, Ambassador of Ukraine to the EU in 2010–15, the head of the Center for New Decisions Konstantin Yeliseyev in an interview with Radio NV – about several scenarios that President Donald Trump can go for pressure on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, and territorial concessions.
– I will ask you first and foremost to decipher the response of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, because he did not support the unconditional armistice. He said that there were conditions, and through whom he listed them, as the termination of arms supply, stopping mobilization in Ukraine, stopping military training, etc. What is it from your point of view? Trying to pull time, attempt to bargain?
– A good question. Putin’s response was expected. This is a classic diplomatic answer. He said neither yes nor no. Because in a diplomatic vocabulary when you say “Yes ”and then you say “but ”, then all that before “But ”, does not matter. Therefore, of course, what we see now is the beginning of a long journey to the idea of ceasefire.
