The author and the petition signatories demanded that the government prohibit songs in Russian on such strings as Apple Music, Spotify and more. They also asked to introduce legislative initiatives and information campaigns to promote Ukrainian music.
The petition explains that Russian-language music can carry the idea and message that are harmful to Ukrainian identity, contain elements of Russian propaganda and is a product whose consumption is funded by the aggressor country.
It also emphasizes the negative impact that songs in Russian can have on young people: “In the modern world, where young people actively consume music through stringing platforms, it is important to form the right cultural values in them. The ban on Russian -speaking music can help to avoid negative impact on the younger generation.”
