In Kharkiv, the SBU and the National Police detained a fraudster, who killed money from the families of Ukrainian prisoners for “exchange assistance”. Dilok managed to repay tens of thousands of hryvnias in Ukrainian families.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
According to the case file, a resident of Kharkiv appeared, who issued himself as a “participant in the volunteer group”, which is allegedly engaged in the exchange of prisoners.
He promised the families of the military for different amounts to return home to Ukrainian defenders who are in the wedges of the racists or disappeared during the fighting.
In order to find potential victims, the fraudster specifically created and personally administered a telegram channel with a “thematic” name, and while communicating with the victims, the attacker referred to his fictional ties with representatives of the aggressor country who allegedly “solve the issue of exchange”.
According to the investigation, the victims transferred funds to the bank details of the person, and after transactions, the fraudster continued to communicate with the victims and killed them with additional amounts, referring to “new circumstances”.
The detainee searched mobile phones, bank cards and other material evidence of equipment. The man was informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (large size fraud).
The attacker is in custody, he faces up to 8 years in prison.
Earlier in Ukraine they noticed fraudsters who demand money from their native prisoners of war. They are represented by staff of international humanitarian missions.
In Dnipropetrovsk, cyber Police, together with investigators of the police department, exposed the malefactors who, during March-November 2024, issued fictitious marriages to military men. So for money they could get delay from mobilization.
