BILLYTHEREALBIGRED (3.45 Newbury, nap)

He can strike Gold for training team Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero. The rising stars have a big chance of landing the Greatwood Gold Cup with this improving five-year-old. This is just his fourth spin over fences and he kicked off with two easy wins at Bangor and Exeter. He revelled in the testing ground at both those tracks before taking up form up a notch when second behind the useful Jagwar at Cheltenham last time out. He has been enjoying himself out in front and a 3lb rise in the weights looks more than fair for that excellent effort. There’s definitely more to come and his excellent jumping will be a real asset as he gallops along on the front end.

WORLD OF FORTUNES (2.05 Doncaster, nb)

She has been in fine form across the Irish Sea where she won easily in this Listed class earlier this season. She wasn’t disgraced in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown last time and is right at home over this distance. She looks hard to beat under Brian Hughes.

WHITE RHINO (3.15 Doncaster, treble)

He earned his place in the Grade 1 Kauto Star last time with impressive wins at Ayr and Haydock. He unseated early at Kempton but can bounce back in the Grimthorpe over an ideal trip.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

DONCASTER

2.05

WORLD OF FORTUNES is proven at this Listed level from a win at Limerick earlier this season.

She was then upped in class and wasn’t disgraced in sixth at the Dublin Racing Festival last time.

She has winning form over this distance and going back up in trip looks a wise move. Decent ground suits and she looks hard to beat.

Dameofthecotswolds has lost her way a little and didn’t take to quirky Windsor before just a fair run at Warwick last time.

Trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies is in better form now and she looked to be progressing nicely earlier this season.

Three miles suits and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her go close.

If you can forgive Star Walking a poor run at Fakenham last time she looked a decent prospect when scoring at Wincanton in December.

She will clearly have to improve but this is just her fourth run over hurdles.

Bobby With An I dug deep to win a minor contest at Wincanton on debut and should take a big step forward.

This is a much hotter race so she will need a lot more.

Miss Cynthia ran in Group 1 contests on the level and landed her first hurdles success at Market Rasen 11 days ago.

This is stronger company but she’s going the right way.

2.40

CALICO won this race two years ago and is effectively just 1lb higher in the handicap thanks to his rider’s claim.

His form has been solid this season and he clocked an impressive time when scoring at Cheltenham in October.

He went too quick up front when fourth here last time and did well to keep going off such a strong pace.

Decent ground suits and he looks a fair price.

Petit Tonnerre was helped by coming late to beat the tip last time and he’ll be competitive again despite a 5lb rise.

Tommy’s Oscar has had a little break since a solid third at Kelso before Christmas.

He’s got plenty of weight but will enjoy these conditions and has an each-way shout.

Homme Public won this 12 months ago and is off the same mark today.

He’s been hurdling so this has been his target for a while.

He swaps cheekpieces for blinkers and is another on the shortlist.

Rare Edition has had a wind op since his distant fourth in an Ascot Grade 2 last time and should be more competitive back at handicap level over his favourite distance.

3.15

WHITE RHINO unseated early in the Grade 1 Kauto Star at Kempton on Boxing Day but the fact he was in that race at all says plenty.

He won his first two chases without breaking sweat and this longer trip should be ideal.

Hymac is a proven stayer who ran another good race at Newbury last time out.

Cheekpieces go on here and he’ll be competitive despite his rising mark.

Weveallbeencaught went from the front to win by almost 10 lengths here latest.

He’s up 8lb for that and those tactics will be a bit tougher to pull off in this bigger field. Saying that he should run another decent race.

Some Scope took a slight step backwards when pulled up at Cheltenham last time after an impressive win at Wetherby.

A repeat of that Yorkshire win brings him into the picture.

The Kniphand won on his last visit here so is another with place prospects from a fair weight.

KELSO

1.10

REAL STONE looks the real deal after an impressive win at Wetherby four weeks ago.

He had the race wrapped up a long way from home and showed enough pace for this shorter trip.

Helnwein has had a wind op since a disappointing effort at Sandown last time.

He was progressing nicely before that and this better ground should be in his favour.

Netywell has gone awry this season but he’s back to just 1lb above his last win and trainer Lucinda Russell is in decent form.

This small field suits so he could bounce back.

Stablemate Bollingerandkrug won this in 2023 and wasn’t disgraced around here last time out.

1.45

GREY DAWNING hadn’t recovered from his mighty second at a bottomless Haydock in the Betfair Chase when struggling in the King George last time.

He’s had a little break and can show something like the form that saw him take Grade 1 honours as a novice.

This trip is fine and there should be enough juice in the ground.

Iroko may do better now the Grand National weights have come out.

He’s being aimed at the big Aintree race and has more than enough talent to push the tip all the way. The softer the better for him.

El Elefante is a solid handicapper who won nicely here last time but this is a taller order.

Barrons Land is a modest hurdler who should need this chase debut.

2.20

ACE OF SPADES got the job done nicely here last time and hasn’t been clobbered for this handicap debut.

That was over further but he showed enough pace to win a two-miler at Cheltenham so isn’t slow.

Mr Bramley has won three of his past five and should improve for this stiffer stamina test.

A bit more rain would be ideal but he’ll be competitive despite a 6lb rise.

Nab Wood unseat early at Haydock two weeks ago after going close at Ayr.

He has won a couple of times here and trainer Nicky Richards is in form.

Inox Allen has a Grade 2 third on his CV so could nick a place despite a poor showing at Haydock last time out.

Bold Light is consistent but wants it softer.

2.55

CASTLE CARROCK created a big impression when winning on hurdles debut at Sandown last time.

Alan King’s six-year-old absolutely tanked along and left his rivals behind in a matter of strides.

This is a hotter contest but there’s plenty of improvement to come.

Chart Topper comes over for Willie Mullins after a good win at Wetherby where his jumping was excellent. He’s another with a lot more in his locker.

Dedicated Hero won a Haydock Grade 2 last time despite not getting the clearest of runs.

That gives him a penalty to carry but we know he’s up to this level and has scored here before.

Roadlesstravelled has also scored in this class before finding an Aintree Grade 1 too much on Boxing Day. He should show more after just four outings.

Vanderpoel isn’t written off stepping up in class after a good win at Ludlow latest.

3.30

TELLHERNAME was far from disgraced behind Sir Gino in the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth at Newcastle last time.

He likes this trip on decent ground and will be dangerous on this handicap debut.

Favour And Fortune ran well in a hot Newbury contest latest despite traffic problems and this better ground suits.

Emmet Mullins is chasing the £100,000 bonus for winning this and at the Cheltenham Festival with Vischio who has looked a different horse since joining his yard.

She won well at Leopardstown last time.

Wilful ran a decent race at Ascot and looks a big price.

NEWBURY

1.20

CREDO ran a cracker when winning easily at Exeter over three miles last time.

He’s a strong stayer so this longer trip will help and give in the ground is ideal.

Harry Cobden stays on board and he can strike again.

Sam Brown always takes plenty of beating and ran well in a Grade 2 here last time despite being outclassed.

He was a game second in the veterans’ final at Market Rasen before that and will be right there again with his rider taking off 10lb.

There’s a chance Gustavian gets a soft lead here and he would take some catching if he does.

He was passed by Credo last time but is 6lb better off with him today which could bring them closer together.

Good Boy Bobby found the bottomless ground at Wincanton last time too much but went close in the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby on Boxing Day and could easily hit the frame.

3.45

BILLYTHEREALBIGRED has hardly put a foot wrong in his three chases.

He kicked off with a 14-length win at Bangor before an even better effort on the clock at Exeter.

It took a mighty effort from the classy Jagwar to keep him in second at Cheltenham last time and he looks ahead of the handicapper.

He goes from the front and will take plenty of passing with soft ground right up his street.

Saint Segal is another who likes to be up with the pace and he was an easy winner the last time he ran here.

He’s 10lb higher now but should be competitive.

Kandoo Kid was impressive when winning the Coral Hennessy here in November.

He loves this trip and a 7lb rise gives him at least an each-way chance for Nicholls and Cobden.

Le Milos is another former Hennessy winner with a big say. He’s in good form and had plenty in hand when scoring at Warwick latest.

Scarface has been running well without winning and could be helped by this longer distance.
