In addition, the Council has set two new criteria that will allow the EU to implement restrictive measures for individuals and legal entities that own or operate the Putin shadow fleet vessels, as well as those who support or benefit from the Russian military-industrial complex.

“This new round of sanctions is directed not only against the Russian shadow fleet, but also against those who support the exploitation of dangerous oil tankers, banks that bypass our sanctions, and propaganda media outlets that spread lies,” the EU High Representative said And Kai Callas security policies.

New vessels have been added to the list of vessels of the so -called shadow fleet, which is prohibited from access to ports and a prohibition of providing a wide range of services related to sea transport. 74 vessels originating from third countries have become the objects of sanctions today, thus, the total number of vessels under the effect of sanctions reached 153.

The EU has also introduced a ban on transactions with credit or financial institutions created outside Russia, which use the “Financial Message System” (SPFP) of the Central Bank of Russia. SPFP is a specialized financial message transmission service developed by the Central Bank of Russia to neutralize restrictive measures.

In addition, the EU Council has decided to extend a ban on the provision of specialized financial messages to 13 regional banks, which are considered important to the Russian financial and banking systems.

The EU Council also added 53 new companies to the list of those who directly support Russia’s military-industrial complex in its war against Ukraine. A third of these enterprises are Russian, while others are located in third countries, including China.

In addition, today’s solution expands the list of prohibited goods that contribute to the technological improvement of the Russian defense and security sector, adding products to the development and production of Russian military systems, such as: chemical precursors of chlorpikrin and other means of combating mass riots, software, software ‘sided with numerical control machines, chromium compounds and controllers used to control unmanned aerial apparatus.

The EU also introduced further restrictions on the export of goods that contribute to the strengthening of Russian industrial potential (chemicals, some types of plastics and rubber) and their transit through Russia, as well as further restrictions on importing primary aluminum, which brings significant income to Russia.

In addition, the EU Council has decided to suspend licenses for eight Russian media broadcasting in the EU, which are under the constant control of the Russian leadership and forbid them to broadcast their content. Among them: Eadaily / Eurasia Daily, Fondsk, Lenta, Newsfront, Rubaltic, Southfront, Strategic Culture Fund and Red Star / Tvzvezda.

In addition, the EU has forbidden any transactions with certain ports, gateways and airports in Russia, which are used for the transmission of UAVs, missiles and related technologies and components to Russia, or to bypassing oil prices or other restrictive measures by vessels that practice irregular and risky maritime transport.

The agreed package of measures today imposes further restrictions on the export of goods and technologies, including software related to oil and gas intelligence, in order to further restrict Russian capacity for exploration and oil and gas production.

The EU Council also prohibits the provision of temporary storage of Russian oil and oil products in the EU, regardless of the purchase price of oil and the final purpose of these products.

Earlier, in its statement, before the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he announced the adoption of the 16th Package of Sanctions against Russia.

At the same time, last week, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto promised to oppose the continuation of EU sanctions against more than 2400 people and organizations, including Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
