Andriy, the call sign “football player”, the chief sergeant of a platoon of 100 separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces – an example of how sports and war can be intertwined in human life. Before the war he was professionally engaged in futsal, played for the Lutsk club “Midas”. However, when the full -scale war began, he hesitated to defend the country. On February 9, 2023, Andrew voluntarily joined the steel hundred. At that time, he had already experienced conscript service, so he quickly learned in military affairs. “I had the title of Senior Soldier. Quite quickly became a younger sergeant, but not in a pleasant circumstances … When the commander of our branch was killed, I had to stand in his place and, accordingly, to get the title of a younger sergeant. And for the year – the next title of sergeant, ”Andrew says.
Despite the proposal to become an officer, the football player decided to stay in a sergeant. He believes that it gives him more opportunities to communicate with personnel, transfer of his knowledge and combat experience to his brothers. “It is necessary to constantly communicate with the boys, to be interested in their problems and to look for ways to solve these problems together,” Andrew shares his method of work. “In the end, it is possible to go to the landfill together from the combat missions and just to shout at targets – in many cases, by the way, it helps to relieve internal tension.”
The main factor of success in the battle “football player” considers trust in brothers. “If you are convinced that a person who will always help, will always cover you with your shoulder, and even if necessary, it will even take out of the battlefield,” your confidence grows at times, “he says.
At home, his wife and five -year -old son are waiting for Andrew. “With his wife and son we love to go to rest, especially in the Carpathians. But in places where there are many people, – says the “football player”. – Now my family is over a thousand kilometers from me. Of course, we are terribly missing one by one and we dream of the time when we will be together again and we will have the opportunity at any time to hive in your favorite Carpathians! ”
According to the Armyinform, Viking is a fighter of the International Legion of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces, which has been fighting for Ukraine for three years against the Russian invaders. He passed a heavy battle path, destroying many enemies, and became a real professional.
