Shmigal: Defense Agreement with Britain will allow Ukraine to get from 2 billion pounds per defense

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal met with the UK Foreign Minister David Lemmy during his visit to Kiev on February 5.

Schmigal reminded that last week the Cabinet of Ministers approved the ratification of the defense agreement with the United Kingdom, and the day before the corresponding bill was approved by the Verkhovna Rada.

“This will allow you to get from 2 billion pounds for the purchase of air defense systems and missiles, as well as to organize repair bases for military equipment and other weapons,” he said.

The head of the government added that he had discussed the implementation of this Agreement and arrangements between the British Prime Minister and the President of Ukraine. According to him, Kyiv counts on “fast and close interaction”.

Shmigal also said that part of the package of 55 million pounds, previously declared Lemma, will go to the energy in the field of energy.

On February 4, the Verkhovna Rada ratified an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the United Kingdom on “official credit support for the development of Ukraine’s defense capabilities”.
