In January “I want to find” received a record number of applications from relatives of the missing military

Details: According to the coordination headquarters, during the work of the project, the relatives of the Russian military submitted more than 60 thousand applications for the search for missing persons, especially actively they sent applications in January, their number became a record for the entire existence of the project. The number of requests is steadily increasing.

The headquarters reports that on January 2025, from all the applications received, it is confirmed that 1 790 military were held captive, 408 of them were already exchanged for Ukrainian defenders. However, these data do not reflect the total number of captives, since they are based only on the prose appeals.

Reference: “I want to live” – ​​a Ukrainian state project, designed to help the military army of the Russian Federation and Belarus safely surrender. The project was launched in September 2022 by the Coordination Headquarters on the Defense of Prisoners of Pursuing, which operates with the support of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Main Directorate of Intelligence.

  • For the first year of work within the framework of the project “I want to live” more than 210 Russian invaders appeared in the Ukrainian captivity.
  • In March 2023, 9836 persons from Russia and temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine were approached to the Unified Center for Reception of Appeals of the Russian Federation for the delivery of “I want to live”.
  • As of May 2024, more than 35,000 applications were received at the Project “I want to live” – ​​mostly from the current Russian military, 260 people have already used it.
