On February 2, the EU began a ban on the AI ​​systems that pose an unacceptable risk. Eg tools to manipulate people, their deception or classification for social rating.

In March 2024, the European Union Parliament approved a large -scale law on the regulation of artificial intelligence. On August 1, it came into force.

The document sorts the AI ​​systems by risk categories:

  • low: models such as spam filters or video games with AI support will not be adjusted;
  • Restrictive: chatbots and other text generation systems and images, and certain transparency requirements are put forward;
  • high: systems that will use law enforcement and government bodies, or tools that perform biometric identification and recognition of emotions;
  • Unacceptable risk: they can deceive or manipulate people, evaluate on the basis of social behavior or personal qualities.

From February 2, the company should make it impossible to use the Last Category, otherwise they will face fines up to 35 million euros or 7% of annual income.

Other restrictions integrate gradually:

  • August 2, 2025 – provisions for regulation of general -purpose artificial intelligence systems;
  • August 2, 2026-restrictive rules for high-risk SI, including biometric data, critical infrastructure, education.

Recall that in October 2023, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine presented a road map of regulation of artificial intelligence, which will help companies prepare for the adoption of the relevant act of the EU.
