Khloe Kardashian has slammed the moment Babyface’s red carpet interview at the Grammys was cut short by reporters in favour of Chappell Roan.

Video from the star-studded award ceremony shows the Whip Appeal hitmaker, 65, chatting to Associated Press journalists Leslie Ambriz and Krysta Fauria.

Midway through answering a question, Fauria interrupts the rapper to get the attention of Hot To Go! singer Roan, who was walking by.

‘You guys wanna do that? Go do that,’ he says to the journalists, with Ambriz repeatedly saying she is ‘so sorry.’

Babyface ends the interview leaving the journalists to chat to the pop superstar, but the viral clip has faced backlash online over the journalist’s treatment of the music icon, real name Kenneth Brian Edmond.

Among those defending Babyface is Good American owner Kardashian, who slammed the ‘disrespectful’ interview.

Sharing the clip on X, the reality TV star wrote: ‘This is so disrespectful how Babyface was treated in this interview.

‘Babyface has had such a significant impact on the music industry, in sooo many ways. Its maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve.

‘He is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this. With decades of groundbreaking work as a songwriter, producer, and performer, he’s shaped the sound of multiple generations.’

She penned a message for Babyface expressing her love and admiration for the artist who had won 13 Grammy Awards throughout his career.

‘I love you @babyface,’ she continued. ‘And I am a forever fan and thankful for all that you have blessed us with.

‘By the way- what a class act you are. PS big or small, old or new, – you don’t treat people like this. At least not in my eyes.

Dionne Warwick also expressed her disbelief (Picture: Arturo Holmes/Getty Images for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) ‘There’s a way to handle this and this was wrong in my opinion.’

She wasn’t the only star angered by Babyface’s treatment, with soul icon Dionne Warwick writing: ’13x Grammy Award-winning Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds? Am I seeing this correctly?’

Following the backlash, Fauria shared a statement online apologising for how the interview was handled.

‘I wanted to say that I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier… There was a lot of commotion on the carpet, but I’m a big Babyface fan, as are we all. I really apologize,’ she wrote.

Across his career spanning five decades, Babyface has worked with the likes of Ashanti, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Beyonce, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and many more.

NME previously named him as one of the 50 of the greatest producers ever.

Metro has contacted representatives for Babyface for comment.
