“This is, on the one hand, a revolutionary approach, because all the expensive IU systems that we have acquired during this time in which we have invested billions of money are ineffective against this tool. On the other hand, this tool stops them in maneuver, so the way to combat it can be effective in building a normal counteraction system, ”the military added.
The commander of the unmanned system of unmanned systems noted that more than 14 manufacturers of fiber drones with a total parameters from 10 to 15 kilometers with coils of different types have already been dissected. He also stressed that Ukrainian diplomats need to ask partners to limit the supply of optic fiber to Russia.
Unlike the standard FPV-pings (the term used for drones controlled with a video channel, which is transmitted on a wireless network to the headset of the pilot, mobile device or other displays), the use of fiber optic cables allows drones to work without radio signals. This makes them less vulnerable to radio electronic struggle (EWS), as they remain directly connected with their operators through thin -optic cable coils, reminiscent of a line up to 15 meters in length.
