Details: Levitt denied Reuters report that US tariffs against Canada and Mexico would work from March 1 – a month later, calling it false.
“I have just been with the president in the oval office and can confirm that tomorrow continues until February 1, set by Trump in his statement a few weeks ago (for tariffs – ed.),” She added.
The White House spokeswoman added that there was a tariff with a rate of 25% against Mexico and Canada and 10% against China “because of the illegal fentanyl they supplied and allowed to distribute in our country, which led to the death of tens of millions of Americans.”
At the same time, Levitt refused to provide additional information about new tariffs, stating that the details should be expected tomorrow, February 1.
Trump earlier claimed that his administration would introduce 25 percent tariffs for imports from Mexico and Canada, starting on February 1, that is, tomorrow.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Ottawa was ready to response to tariffs, but warned that “difficult times” awaited the country.
