According to him, Rubio insisted that the states would not abandon Ukraine. The minister also tried to diminish the risk that the new US president would resort to Greenland’s military capture.
Thayani noted that Europe should buy more from the states, as well as increase the defense budgets and strengthen the economy to avoid the trade war with Donald Trump:
“We must accelerate the way to become stronger and complete the creation of a banking union, a single energy market, fiscal harmonization, European defense. Europe should not be strong only in establishing rules, it should be strong politically and economically.”
