Russia’s war against Ukraine claimed the lives of more than 500 Ukrainian athletes and coaches, including more than 90 representatives of the hockey community. The Ukrainian side called on the International Federation to maintain and strengthen sanctions against Russia and Belarus without allowing their players and coaches to international tournaments
The ministry also stressed that the world hockey could not stay away when the war is destroying the future of Ukrainian sports.
“We look forward to the fundamental position and determination in protecting the fundamental values of sports,” the message reads.

28 athletes who previously represented the Russian Federation or were born there will take part in Tallinn. 14 participants were partially preparing for competitions in Russia, most ex-Russian in the Georgia national team.
