Operatives of the National Police and the DBR exposed a criminal organization, which consisted of eight persons involved in the appropriation of budget funds allocated for road repairs in Kharkiv region. Criminal activity was organized by the deputy chairman of one of the territorial communities. In 2023, he initiated the conclusion of 12 contracts with previously defined enterprises. Advertising: he attracted several accomplices from the local council, as well as representatives of contractor construction companies, to carry out fraud. The participants of the scheme overestimated the volumes of work performed and the cost of materials, as well as saved on the quality of asphalt, sand and crushed stone. At the same time, the technical supervision of the work performed was formal. The specialist responsible for the inspection did not check the condition of the facilities on the spot, because in fact he was in military service. On January 28, police conducted several searches, during which more than UAH 1 million in cash, documents, computer equipment and a car were seized. The persons involved in the case can receive up to 13 years in prison with the confiscation of property.
