Security Service of Ukraine (The SBU) and the National Police exposed a group suspected of the agency in favor of the Russian Federation, which probably planned to carry out a series of terrorist attacks in the Odessa region.

It is noted that the defendants were detained when they were preparing an explosion near one of the regional police department.
According to the case file, the detainees were going to set fire to several service cars, and then, when the police appeared at the scene of the fire, remotely to undermine a homemade explosive device.
The SBU claims that in order to implement their plan, the persons involved in the hostel near the object, they purchased four gasoline canisters for arson, and in a pre -prepared “hiding place” kept the explosive disguised as a fire extinguisher.
According to the Ukrainian special service, they were exposed during the investigation of another crime – the murder of a volunteer from Odessa, which took place on January 20. Then they probably set fire to a local activist near his house, and when he went out to extinguish the fire, hidden in a backpack.
The detainees seized mobile phones with evidence of crime.
According to the investigation, the persons involved were three people who had addiction to drugs, aged 23 to 45 years, as well as their 46-year-old accomplice, who had previously served their sentences for theft and robbery.
It was established that it was acted separately from the rest of the group and was responsible for the manufacture and placement of homemade explosive devices.
Currently, the detainees have been suspected under Part 3 of Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (a terrorist act that led to the death of a person).
The suspects are in custody. They are threatened with life imprisonment with the confiscation of property.
