According to the edition, the executive power of the EU has announced “unprecedented simplification efforts” aimed at reducing rules and stimulating innovations in an attempt to restore back the economic decline of Europe and better compete with China and the United States.
Plans published in a document called Competitivens Compass are a response to a sharp report of former Italian Prime Minister Mario Dragi, who warned that the EU risks “slow and painful decline” without urgent action
It is noted that the document confirmed the EU target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2040, however, according to Ursula von Der Lyen, the EU sometimes set “complex” and “partially contradictory” requirements for companies.
According to the Head of the European Commission, the agenda of simplification meets the goals of the “green agreement” of the EU, “because we must accelerate. The more difficult the legislation, the slower the achievement of climatic goals.”
She also stressed that the European business sent a “very clear signal” that it faced great difficulties and administrative procedures are too “cumbersome”.
Von Der Lyen promised “unprecedented simplification efforts”, which, she said, will reduce the administrative costs for companies by 25% and 35% for small and medium -sized enterprises – provided that the commission’s proposals will be adopted and complied with.
The next month’s commission will publish a “large -scale simplification” that covers a corporate reporting directive, which came into force in 2023 and a corporate development directive, which will affect the company in a gradual schedule from 2027 to 2029
