Details: The request was approved by the Budget Committee of the Parliament by the voices of opposition parties-the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Free Democratic Party (VDP). Representatives of the ruling Social Democrats (SDPN) and the green parties abstained during the vote.
Although the Committee does not have the authority to independently make a decision on additional assistance to Ukraine without the approval of the Minister of Finance, in practice the ministry usually satisfies such requests. Members of the Budget Committee from the CDU and VDP noted that the budget has enough money for this request.
Chancellor Olaf Scholt (SPD) also supports the provision of additional military assistance to Ukraine, but insists that it is necessary to suspend the so -called debt brake – strict restrictions on state borrowing in Germany.

Details: These funds are a supplement of up to 8 billion euros, provided for Ukraine in the budget for 2024. German assistance to Ukraine was reduced to € 4 billion in 2025, as the country hopes that Ukraine will be able to meet most of its military needs at the expense of loans of $ 50 billion, approved by the Seven Group.
