Livitt noted that the decision to suspend financing is a “very responsible step”.
“This is a temporary pause. Budgetary management is reviewing the federal funding that has been allocated. […] Over the past four years, we have seen Baiden’s administration spent money like drunken sailors. This is one of the reasons why we had an inflationary crisis, “she said during a briefing.
Livitt noted that the decision to suspend financing is a “very responsible step”:
“This administration is obliged to make sure that every penny will be honestly calculated,” she added.
At the same time, Libitt stressed that social assistance to Americans, medical care, nutrition assistance, help provided directly to people will not be suspended.
Suspension Financing for US Assistance ProgramsThe White House stopped paying all federal grants and loans, and the new US President Donald Trump team initiated a major check of internal budget expenditures.
Earlier, Trump stopped 90 days of funding for assistance programs to other countries – in particular, under the auspices of the USAID program, which implements several projects in Ukraine.
The deputy head of the Presidential Office Irina Vereshchuk, commenting on this situation, stated that suspension of USAID funding could not but be confused, but it is “not the first and not the last test we have to overcome.” She added that in the near future, subject consultations with American partners will begin in order to continue the financing of humanitarian response in Ukraine.
