The United Kingdom, together with Canada, imposed sanctions against 6 people and 3 organizations in response to falsification of the presidential election in Belarus. About it reports the press service of the British government, writes UNN.

The sanctions are against the heads of institutions responsible for serious violations of human rights and companies of the Belarusian defense sector that support the war of Russia in Ukraine. These actions demonstrate the government’s dedication to the international level to curb threats and protect national security that are the basis in the Government of Changes,

In particular, it is emphasized that after the brutal repression of Lukashenko, during which critical voices in Belarus were muted, and the fictitious elections that took place on Sunday, January 26, did not meet international standards and were convicted by international partners.

The sanctions were applied to the head of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko, as well as representatives of the Main Directorate of Combating Organized Crime and Corruption and Penitentiary System.

Along with the application of sanctions to the heads of institutions responsible for serious human rights violations in the country, the United Kingdom excluded Belarusian defense companies in the British economy – a sector that is strategic to Lukashenko, which contributes to the war of Russia in Ukraine.

3 Defense Sector Enterprises of Belarus came under sanctions:

Alevkurp OJSC a subsidiary of Belarus, which specializes in the study, development and production of radar systems and weapons management systems;

OJSC “Legmash Plant” is a Belarusian enterprise that produces ammunition for the Belarusian defense complex;

“KB drones” – Belarusian developer and manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles.

The world is already accustomed to Lukashenko’s cynical boom on democracy in Belarus, while in reality he brutally depresses civil society and opposition to strengthen his power. The United Kingdom, along with our partners, will continue to support the people of Belarus and expose those who deny them their legal right to freedom and democracy
