“The flames mainly covered the second and upper floors of the City Hall, as well as a 35 -meter bell tower,” the LE PARISIEN in the Paris Prosecutor’s Office reported.
Rescuers said that the fire broke out at about 03:00 and was taken control at 7am. About sixty fire trucks and 150 firefighters were used for this purpose.
According to the city prosecutor, nothing indicates that the fire happened through a deliberate arson, so the investigation of the causes will be concentrated, in particular, on the conditions of safety of work from the roof overlapping and the electrical system of the building.
“There is some uncertainty about the stability of the spire, which is threatened with collapse,” said the Prefect of Police Laurent Nunes.
