“Trump’s decree to stop international support does not apply to Ukraine’s security assistance – Pentagonpentagon confirmed that Trump’s decree on a 90 -day pause in providing international support is not about military assistance to Ukraine. The document only affects development programs, but not USAI and PDA contracts.”, – WRITE ON: Unn.ua
Security assistance to Ukraine does not fall under the restriction of a recent decree on foreign aid, since it concerns only development programs, not military support
This means that the contracts for the manufacture of weapons for Ukraine under the USAI program, designed by the Baiden administration, remain in force. Trump’s specific decree does not affect any residual and previously planned supply of weapons from US warehouses under the PDA program, which was announced by Joe Biden.
However, it is unknown how Trump’s presidential decree can influence non -military assistance for Ukraine. The US Embassy in Ukraine does not give additional explanations about this and refers to the released text of President Trump’s decree, Radio Svoboda reports.
On the first day, Donald Trump signed a decree on the 90-day US Foreign Aid stop for development programs.
It states that all the heads of ministries and agencies responsible for the US programs should immediately suspend the allocation and payment of funds to foreign countries and international non -governmental organizations – before reviewing such programs for efficiency and compliance with US policy.
This check should be carried out within 90 days of signing the decree.
The text of the document states that no further external assistance will be provided in a way that is not fully consistent with the US President’s foreign policy.
