US President Donald Trump plans to establish productive cooperation with China and said that he hopes for Beijing’s influence on Moscow to end the war in Ukraine.
“We look forward to working well with China and getting along with China. I hope that China will be able to help us stop the war, in particular, between Russia and Ukraine. They have a lot of influence on this situation, and we will work with them,” Trump said on Thursday, January 23, during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
He said he spoke about it with Chinese President Xi Jinping during a recent phone conversation initiated by the Chinese leader. Trump noted that he hopes for cooperation in stopping Russian aggression.
Trump also mentioned a number of areas and strategic challenges that can be solved through cooperation between Washington and Beijing, in particular the issue of reducing the nuclear arsenals of the United States, Russia and China.
At the same time, when asked whether there will be peace in Ukraine before the next World Economic Forum in Davos, Trump said that it is necessary “ask Russia”.
The president stressed on Thursday that he will demand from Saudi Arabia to reduce oil prices. This should contribute to the end of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
On January 17, Trump spoke by phone with Xi Jinping.
“I spoke with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping. The conversation was very constructive for both China and the US. I hope that we will solve many problems together.
