“Serhiy Radchenko and Kevin Lerena could not agree on a meeting”, — write: sport.ua
The management of the WBC decided to cancel the bridgeweight title fight, which was supposed to take place in Kyiv. Ukrainian candidate Serhii Radchenko (11–7, 5 KOs) was left without an opponent – title holder Kevin Lerena (30–3, 14 KOs) asked several times to postpone this meeting, and later refused to go to Kyiv altogether. The boxer from South Africa did not disclose the reasons for such a decision.
Initially, the title fight was planned for January, then it was postponed to February. Lerena later promised to enter the ring in March, but the WBC tyrant broke down and the fight was canceled. The WBC title will remain in the hands of the South African.
Serhii Radchenko last entered the ring on August 3 last year, when he defeated compatriot Andriy Pesich by unanimous decision.
