Details: Budanov said that over the past three months, North Korea has transferred to Russia approximately 120 M1989 “Koksan” self-propelled artillery installations of 170 mm caliber and 120 M-1991 multiple rocket launcher systems of 240 mm caliber. It is expected that the DPRK will send at least the same amount of this equipment to the Russians in the future.

Separately, the head of the GUR emphasized the possibility of the Russians obtaining North Korean KN-23 ballistic missiles, which had already been put into service with Putin’s army.

“Most of these weapons are either used against Ukrainian troops or for training in Russia,” Budanov noted.

The head of Ukrainian intelligence noted that the DPRK may additionally send reinforcements in the form of infantry to the Kursk region in 2025.

“We don’t expect to see many new ground troops. They (North Korea’s military – ed.) are like biological robots,” he emphasized.

Prehistory:

  • South Korean intelligence said in December that North Korea appeared to be preparing to deploy additional troops and military equipment to Russia, possibly including kamikaze drones, in support of Moscow’s war against Ukraine.
  • Later, the US ambassador to NATO, Julian Smith, reported that North Korea had delivered more than a thousand containers of ammunition to Russia.
  • Analysts of the Institute for the Study of War reported that new groups of North Korean soldiers arriving in the Kursk region would suffer losses that could reach 30,000 to 45,000 killed and wounded every month.
