January 20 Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok ended her doubles performance with Zhan Haoqing, losing in the quarterfinals Kristini Mladenovych and Zhang Shuai.

After the meeting ended, something strange happened. Kichenok and Mladenovych did not shake hands. Judging by the video, it was Lyudmila who refused to thank Christina for the game, making the appropriate gesture.

Initially, there was no explanation from Lyudmila why she allegedly showed disrespect. But soon the Ukrainian explained:

“I was publicly accused of unsportsmanlike behavior. I want to express my point of view. I received a very direct threat from my opponent during a match after accidentally hitting her with a ball. The response to my many apologies was, “You better be careful next time.” I don’t think it’s necessary to show respect by shaking hands at the end of a match with people who use verbal threats. Point”.

Lyudmila also wrote the following:

1. Violation of sporting behavior:
Verbal threats on the tennis court are against the principles of sportsmanship. Tennis is a game that encourages respect for opponents, officials and the integrity of the sport. Threats create a hostile environment, undermining the spirit of fair play and camaraderie.

2. Psychological influence:
Verbal threats can have a significant psychological impact on players. Tennis requires mental focus and concentration, and threats can disrupt a player’s ability to play at their best. This can cause fear, anxiety and stress, which will affect his overall performance and enjoyment of the game.

3. Deterioration of the tennis community:
Verbal threats contribute to creating a negative atmosphere in the tennis community. Such behavior can deter new players from participating and tarnish the sport’s reputation.
