US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States is committed to providing “stable” peace between Russia and Ukraine, so that the war does not start again in the future.
“We don’t just want the conflict to end and then resume in two, three, four years. We want to bring stability,” he told CBS Mornings.
Rubio noted that the administration of the new US President Donald Trump wants not only to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, but also to ensure that peace will “stable”.
“This is a war and a conflict that Russia started, but now it has reached a stalemate, a protracted and bloody conflict,” the US Secretary of State noted.

He believes that the war has devastating consequences for both the Russian Federation and Ukraine. However, according to him, Ukraine pays a higher price for its energy infrastructure.
“For the sake of people whose lives were lost, for the sake of millions of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their countries and live abroad, the conflict must be stopped,” Rubio emphasized.
On January 20, the US Senate confirmed Marco Rubio as US Secretary of State, just hours after the inauguration of US President Donald Trump. Rubio, who was previously a senator, became the first official confirmed by the Senate in the new Trump administration.
Immediately after his confirmation in the US Senate for the position of Secretary of State, Marco Rubio spoke about the possible end of the war between Russia and Ukraine. The politician is convinced that both sides need to end the conflict “will have to make concessions.”
On the same day, Donald Trump said that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was destroying Russia and that a ceasefire should be negotiated. He also said there is a high probability of new sanctions against Russia if Putin does not agree to negotiations to settle the war in Ukraine.
