Rubio’s direct speech: “The conflict must end, and the policy of the United States is to see it end. We want to do everything we can to help it end.
We are going to make efforts to end this conflict in a sustainable way, meaning we don’t just want the conflict to end and then resume in two, three or four years. We want to ensure stability.”
Details: He emphasized that Ukraine is currently paying the highest price for its energy infrastructure, “for people and lives that have been lost, for millions of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their country and live abroad.”
Rubio also believes that “everyone should be very happy” that Donald Trump was elected president of the United States, because he wants to “promote peace in the world and put an end to these conflicts.”
Prehistory:
- On the first day of his presidency, Donald Trump said that Putin is destroying Russia without ending the war.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin, congratulating Trump on his inauguration as US president, declared that he was ready for a dialogue regarding the war he had unleashed against Ukraine, but at the same time continued to put forward an ultimatum demand – the complete surrender of Ukraine.
- Volodymyr Zelensky, congratulating the new US president, emphasized that Trump’s “peace through strength” policy provides an opportunity to strengthen American leadership and “achieve a long-term and just peace.”
- At the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21, Zelenskyi emphasized that Ukraine seeks to end the murderous war unleashed by Russia, but not just quickly, but most importantly – fairly.
