Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has committed more than 7,000 environmental crimes in Ukraine, the damages from which exceed 72.9 billion euros, said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine for European Integration Olga Yukhymchuk.

“…More than seven thousand Russian environmental crimes have already been recorded in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Damages exceed €72.9 billion – this is land and soil pollution, damage caused to nature reserves and protected ecosystems, air pollution, water bodies and seas, as well as the impact of war on climate change,” the ministry’s press service says.

At a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy in Rome, the deputy minister emphasized that “data on environmental damage will become the basis for the further green recovery of Ukraine.”

“Currently, the Ministry of Environment is working on the framework law “On the basics of green recovery”, which will define the key principles and approaches to the sustainable recovery of the country and take into account European standards,” said Yukhymchuk.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that the losses Ukraine suffered as a result of Russian aggression reached about 800 billion dollars.
