On January 21, the Supervisory Board of the Defense Procurement Agency decided to extend the contract with the current director of AOZ Maryna Bezrukova.

Literally: “Also, members of the Supervisory Board voted unanimously to initiate a comprehensive audit of the Agency’s activities, with the involvement of NATO’s international board of auditors.
This audit should cover:
- assessment of financial statements;
- analysis of management and operational processes;
- verification of the company’s compliance with international standards, including HATO standards;
- verification of compliance with the principles of transparency and accountability”.
Details: For its part, the Agency promises to provide the necessary documentation and assist in conducting a comprehensive audit.
What preceded:
The Supervisory Board of the Defense Procurement Agency (AOD) submitted a recommendation to Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov to extend the contract with the current director of the AOD, Maryna Bezrukova, for one year.
Prehistory:
- Bezrukova became the head of the Defense Procurement Agency in January 2024. Her contract ends at the end of the week.
- In November, the Ministry of Defense said that it was “actively investigating” the reasons for the supply of low-quality 120 mm mines to the front.
- Summing up the work of the Agency in 2024, Bezrukova reported in her column on the Ukrainian News Agency that in December the Supervisory Board of the AOZ, which included independent members Kateryna Kuznetsova, Lukash Stolyarsky, Patrik Auroy, as well as representatives from the state Taras Chmut and Yuriy Dzhigyr, began working.
- The executive director of the NGO “Anti-corruption Center” Daria Kaleniuk reported that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov planned to fire Bezrukova in September 2024 and appoint a People’s Deputy from the “Voice” party Oleksandr Ustinov to this position.
