Orban threatens Ukraine to “fight back” due to the termination of transit of Russian gas

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán expressed dissatisfaction with Ukraine’s decision to stop the transit of Russian gas from 2025. At a press conference during his visit to Bratislava, he stated that “Budapest is considering the possibility of responding to this move,” reports UNN with reference to Radio Liberty.

According to Orban, “Ukraine has not only stopped gas transit through its territory, but is also allegedly refusing negotiations.” Thus, in his opinion, Ukraine’s decision allegedly “threatens Hungary, Slovakia and the entire region.”

“Kyiv is no longer sitting securely enough in the saddle to afford this. If they remain aggressive and hostile, they will lose. We will eventually get angry and fight back,” Orban said.

In his opinion, “the way the people of Kyiv are trying to control and form relations with Central European countries today is unacceptable.”

He also stated that he opposes Ukraine’s “quick membership” in the European Union, because it would “destroy the Hungarian economy.” And if Ukraine joins NATO, it will lead to a “war of the Alliance with Russia,” Orban clarified.
