Slovakia’s opposition parties have withdrawn the parliamentary vote of no confidence aimed at the resignation of Prime Minister Robert Fico’s cabinet, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Peter Ziga said on January 21.

Thus they protested Fizo’s proposal to make the session secret on the grounds that he was sharing confidential information.

At the beginning of the meeting, the leader of the opposition party “Progressive Slovakia” Michal Šimečka voiced all the claims against Fico, in particular, he mentioned his visit to Moscow and the statements of his associates who raised questions about Slovakia’s future membership in the EU and NATO.

The opposition has announced that it will announce a new vote of no confidence in the near future.

After that, the prime minister of Slovakia invited the Ukrainian president to meet in Davos. In a comment to Bloomberg, Zelensky said that he “can’t plan anything” because Fico “may go to Davos, but he will end up somewhere in Sochi.”

Fico traveled to Moscow last month for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on ending the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine, but did not visit Kyiv.
