The Supreme Court of Ukraine made a final decision, obliging the public organization “Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments” (UTOPIK) to vacate the premises of building #19 of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications.
The decision confirms the verdict of the Northern Court of Appeal of October 9, 2024. Building No. 19, which is an architectural monument of local importance, is in state ownership and is on the balance sheet of the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra”.
The premises were given to UTOPIK for free use in 1996 to store the funds of the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine. However, on April 21, 2023, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 359, the decision to transfer the corps was canceled.
The public organization appealed to the Commercial Court, which initially made a decision in its favor. However, in October 2024, the appellate body satisfied the complaint of the National Reserve, obliging UTOPIK to return the premises to the state.
Earlier we wrote that the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” explained why they allowed the charity event organized by the team of the “Real History” project to popularize the Ukrainian Christmas tradition. Filming took place in the Dining Hall of the Lavra, and it is not prohibited by law.
