Law enforcement officers exposed the platoon commander of one of the military units in the Ternopil region, who for almost a year charged a subordinate soldier with “combat” for repairing his daughter’s house, the State Bureau of Investigation reports.

Bureau verbatim: “The servicemen of the unit were involved in the performance of tasks in the combat zone. In April 2023, the platoon commander offered the subordinate soldier not to go to the front, but to repair his daughter’s house in the Ternopil region. For this, he promised to charge the serviceman all combat allowances. The subordinate agreed until December In 2023, he was not in the service, but worked privately construction”.
Details: The law enforcement officers found out that during this time the soldier was charged and paid more than 1 million hryvnias for no reason.
The commander was informed of the suspicion of abuse of office (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides up to 6 years of imprisonment.
A soldier who worked in construction instead of serving is charged with evasion of duty (Part 4 of Article 409 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), for which he may face up to 10 years in prison.
Currently, the issues regarding the selection of preventive measures for the suspect are being resolved.
