The intelligence of Great Britain analyzed the advance of the Russian army in the Donetsk region, in particular, attention is drawn to the pressure of Velika Novosilka.

Details: British scouts noted that in the central part of the Donetsk region, Russian troops are increasing pressure on the city of Velika Novosilka.
The analysis noted that during January 2025, Russian troops moved north to capture the villages of Neskuchne and Vremivka.
The intelligence service reminded that Velika Novosilka has been on the front line since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russia failed in its attempt to capture the city in the summer of 2022, and Ukraine pushed Russian forces south in 2023.
Russia has moved in this direction after capturing other cities in the east – notably Vugledar in October 2024 and Kurakhov earlier in January 2025.
Analysts of the DeepState project reported late in the evening on January 18 about the advance of the enemy near a number of settlements in the Donetsk region, including Velika Novosilka, in which, according to DeepState, the Russians began storming some areas.
Earlier, British intelligence stated that in 2024, Russia suffered record losses in terms of killed and wounded in the war against Ukraine, and the month of the greatest losses was December.
And on January 9, scouts wrote that the central part of Donetsk region remains the most unstable part of the front in eastern Ukraine.
