At the invitation of Volodymyr Zelenskyi, opposition leader Michal Shimechka came to Kyiv instead of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The President of Ukraine announced this in his X account.

– Friday. I was waiting for one leader of Slovakia – another one arrived. The meeting with Slovak parliamentarians was good. The delegation is headed by Michal Shimechka. We talked very concretely and constructively, he wrote.

Zelensky added that Ukraine is ready for open and mutually beneficial dialogue with Slovakia on all issues, including energy.

– This dialogue should strengthen our peoples – Ukraine and Slovakia, not Moscow – he declared.

The Office of the President said that Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with the delegation of the opposition party “Progressive Slovakia” led by its leader Michal Shimechka. The President emphasized that Ukraine is open to a serious dialogue with Slovakia, in particular on energy security and finding practical solutions for energy supply.

Michal Shimechka announced on his social networks that the purpose of his visit “is clear: to reopen the doors that Robert Fico closed.”

– We are in Kyiv to open the door that Robert Fitso slammed. From our conversations, it is clear that Ukraine is ready for dialogue in the energy sector as well… Mr. Prime Minister, instead of cursing, go to Kyiv and negotiate – the door is open, – he wrote.

Shimechka added that instead of working, Fico “went to Moscow to worship the dictator and did nothing for the people of Slovakia.”

40-year-old Michal Šimečka is a member of the National Council of Slovakia, deputy speaker of the Slovak Parliament.
