Six militants, including a 32-year-old Russian, the bodyguard of the Russian “military commander” Zakhar Prilepin, were informed of the suspicion. They were captured during the battles in the Pokrovsky, Siversky and Toretsk directions at the end of 2024.
According to the information of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, one of the militants joined the “Zorya” battalion of the terrorist organization “LNR” before the start of the full-scale war, where he became a scout shooter. He fought against the ATO forces, and from February 24, 2022, he participated in the capture of the territory of Luhansk region.
The other three detainees are residents of Luhansk region, who, as part of the 88th and 2nd motorized rifle brigades of the Russian occupiers, captured Siverskodonetsk, Lysychansk and Rubizhne, and also built fortifications for the assault on Bakhmut. Later, they were “sent” to attack Belogorivka and Verkhnokamianske, where they were captured.
Two other militants are residents of the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region. One was on duty at Russian checkpoints in Horlivka, and after February 24, 2022, he took part in hostilities in the Bakhmut and Pokrovsk districts. Another joined the 123rd separate motorized rifle brigade of the Russian Federation, where he was a machine gunner and shelled the positions of the Armed Forces near the villages of Pisky and Ozaryanivka. They surrendered during the battles near Toretsk in December 2024.
Five of them were charged with treason and collaborative activity, and one with encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine and participation in a terrorist organization. They face from 15 years to life in prison. The investigation is being conducted by SBU employees under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
In addition, a woman suspected of forging military registration documents will be tried in Odesa. She was detained in May this year.
Earlier, the SBU exposed a network of underground printing houses that forged documents for “legalization” abroad.
