“Politics is guided by the rule of reciprocity” – Polish presidential candidate Nawrocki reacted to Zelenskyi’s words

On January 16, the candidate for the presidency of Poland from the opposition party “Law and Justice” Karol Nawrocki said that if he is elected president, Poland will continue to support Ukraine “in the face of the threat of the Russian Federation, which is also hostile to us.” However, “partners should know that politics is guided by the rule of reciprocity in relations,” PAP quoted him as saying.

Nawrocki says that with regard to Ukraine, “Poland has done and is doing more than we thought we could do.” “At the same time, Poland represents, and I want this to be clear, its interests and its society. Therefore, it cannot afford actions that will deal a blow to our own economy, agriculture, and the wealth of Poles’ wallets,” the opposition presidential candidate emphasized.

Earlier this month, Karol Navrotskyi said that he does not see Ukraine in the EU and NATO, stating that “a state that cannot answer for its crimes cannot be part of alliances” (apparently, Navrotskyi meant responsibility for the Volyn tragedy – ed. ).

This week, in an interview with Polish media, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that if Ukraine does not join the EU and NATO and does not have security guarantees, Russia may end up on the Polish border.

“Then Mr. Navrotsky should start training, because it may happen that he will have to take up arms in order to defend his country together with his compatriots,” the president said.

The presidential election campaign started in Poland on January 15. The first round will take place on May 18, the second, if necessary, on June 1.

Preliminary polls, regularly held in Poland in recent months, do not give any candidate more than 50% of the vote in the first round of the presidential election. According to polls, the mayor of Warsaw and the deputy head of the ruling “Civic Coalition” Rafal Tsaskowski and the head of the Institute of National Remembrance Karol Nawrocki, who is supported by the leading opposition party “Law and Justice”, have the best chances of reaching the second round.
