Russian President Vladimir Putin shows no signs that he wants peace, as evidenced by recent strikes on civilians and energy infrastructure, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says. He said this during a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in Kyiv, Radio Liberty correspondent reports.

“Let’s be clear. We all want this war to end. No one wants this more than Ukraine. But now Putin shows no signs of seeking peace. Look at the strikes on civilians in Zaporizhzhia. Attacks on Christmas. Repeated attacks on the energy infrastructure and, of course, today’s attacks here are a reminder of the daily attacks and the determination of the Ukrainian people in the face of them,” said the British Prime Minister, who arrived in Kyiv today on a business visit.

Also, according to him, the way to peace lies through strength and Great Britain will work to strengthen the position of Ukraine.

The other day, the former secretary of the Security Council of Russia, assistant to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mykola Patrushev, stated in an interview that Moscow’s position on Ukraine remains unchanged – the Russian Federation is not going to return the occupied territories. Patrushev claims that “the Ukrainian people remain close, fraternal to us, we do not care about what is happening in Ukraine.” At the same time, Putin’s assistant assumes that “Ukraine will cease to exist this year.”

In February 2022, Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which it calls a SVO (special military operation). Initially, Moscow declared the “demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine” as the goal of the “special operation.”
