It’s a long day today.
The visit of the British Prime Minister and the signing of the one-year agreement. This is a fundamentally new format of relations. The closest relations are now between Ukraine and Britain, and some of the things we included in the century-old agreement with Britain can definitely be done with other countries as well, developing our partnerships. More defensive interaction, more security. For this year alone, we have 6.6 billion dollars in military aid from Britain, of which more than three – this will be the annual amount – the amount of support is mandatory, and it is as much as it will be needed – long-term. In addition, the agreement envisages economic, technological and educational cooperation – the development of our schools and universities together with British ones. There is also a closed, secret part of the agreement. All that really gives us stability and opportunities to develop.
Today, together with the British Prime Minister, we met with the manufacturers of Ukrainian drones – these are exactly the weapons that are currently being produced in Ukraine and it is most profitable to produce them here than anywhere else in Europe. And we are constantly making our drones more efficient. There will be more investments from partners – in the production of Ukrainian drones. This year should be a record year for our drones.
There was also a meeting with the Minister of Defense of Italy, and I am grateful to Italy for all the support provided to our state, our people. We talked about what we can do together in the future – first of all, this is air defense. And also – joint production. It is necessary to add jobs to our peoples in Europe and technological results. Italy is preparing the 11th support package.
There was also a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. The Netherlands is one of our most principled partners. In all issues: the EU for Ukraine, NATO, as well as the responsibility of Russia and the Russian leadership for this war. It will definitely happen – we will find a format.
And one more thing.
Met with UN representatives. The main issue today was support for Ukrainians, primarily internally displaced persons. Restoration of destroyed buildings, social support, financial support. For this year, a total of 3.3 billion dollars has been allocated within the framework of UN programs to support Ukrainians. We discussed today how to make UN aid more effective and how to bring closer to what we most desire – a just peace.
