“Yesterday, two Norwegian F-35s stationed in Poland went on alert in response to a mass attack by the Russian Federation. This is the first time that Norwegian aircraft have been taken into the air for active air defense of Polish airspace, demonstrating the Alliance’s commitment to NATO’s eastern flank,” the command said in a statement.
On January 15, Poland announced that it had raised its air force due to Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine – additional pairs of fighter jets were deployed, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were put on the highest alert.
