Details: As miners told journalists, the entrance to mine #3 became too dangerous due to constant Russian shelling. It is located closest to the front, in the village of Pishchane.

Therefore, at the beginning of December 2024, miners began to descend through another entrance, due to which the descent lasted much longer – about two hours. To get back, the miners rode on conveyor belts that transported freshly mined coal.

As a result of shelling, the power supply and ventilation systems sometimes failed, which forced the miners to evacuate. However, keeping the mine in operation as long as possible was critically important for the Ukrainian economy, since it was this mine that supplied Ukrainian metallurgists with the right grade of coal.

The publication also writes that the explosives were planted in two other mines of the enterprise, which today remain under the control of Ukraine. However, it is not known whether it was implemented.

This site provided about half of the total volume of coal production by “Metinvest” in Ukraine.
