Mobile operators “Kyivstar” and Vodafone Ukraine will exchange frequencies in the 2100 MHz range to optimize the 4G network. The corresponding decision was made during the meeting of the National Commission for State Regulation of Electronic Communications (NCEC) on January 15. According to the decision, “Kyivstar” will transfer part of the rights to use frequencies (license) to Vodafone Ukraine within 24 regions. In turn, Vodafone Ukraine will transfer part of its frequencies to “Kyivstar” in 27 regions. Frequency exchange will eliminate spectrum fragmentation by creating continuous blocks of frequencies. In addition, subscribers will receive a higher speed of mobile Internet in the 4G network. Advertising: As the director of the radio frequency spectrum department of NKEK Iryna Chernyavska noted, this is the first case of transfer of rights between operators in Ukraine. Earlier, on November 19, 2024, mobile operators won lots for licenses to use radio frequencies in the 2100, 2300 and 2600 MHz bands. The president of “Kyivstar” Oleksandr Komarov then noted that the exchange of frequencies will allow the company to form a continuous band in the 2100 MHz range for more efficient use of frequencies for 4G.
