12th racket of the world. Kostyuk’s opponent in the 3rd round of the Aus Open became known

The first racket of Ukraine Marta Kostyuk (WTA 18) has found out her opponent in the 3rd round of the 2025 Australian Open.

In the round of 16, the Ukrainian will play against the 12th ranked player in the world Paula Badosa (Spain), who defeated Talia Gibson (Australia, WTA 150).

Paula reached the 3rd round of the Australian Open for the third time in her career. Her best result is the 4th round in 2022.

Earlier, Kostyuk and Badosa had 4 head-to-head confrontations, the score 3:1 in favor of the Spaniard. Paula beat Marta twice on the Melbourne courts (2019 – 3rd round of qualification, 2022 – 1/16 finals) and once in the 3rd round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome in 2023.

Marta’s only victory was won in the 2nd round of Wimbledon-2023. Then Badosa withdrew after losing the set and the first game in the second game.

Badosa, in addition to Gibson, won against Wang Xinyu at AO-2025, and Nao Hibino and Yule Niemeyer passed Kostyuk on the Melbourne courts.
