Today, January 15, seriously wounded and seriously ill defenders, who spent a long time in Russian captivity, returned home. There is also a civilian among the returnees. The occupiers captured him in the Kyiv region and held him illegally. About this UNN reports with reference to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War and Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.

All discharged servicemen are soldiers, sailors and sergeants. They defended Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk directions, the city of Mariupol, in particular Azovstal. Among those returned is also a civilian captured in Kyiv region and illegally held by the Russians.

Representatives of the National Guard, the Armed Forces (including TrO), the Navy, and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine are returning home and will receive proper treatment and rehabilitation.

Wounded Ukrainian servicemen were also returned from Kurshchyna. The youngest released is 24 years old. The oldest is sixty. These people went through a lot without proper medical care and with inhumane treatment in enemy captivity.

As noted, the wounded have, in particular, loss of vision, limb amputations, complex bullet wounds and the consequences of mine and explosive injuries. Among the diseases are tuberculosis, oncology, gangrene, which eloquently testifies to the conditions in which our people have to live.

As the ombudsman pointed out, the United Arab Emirates helped Ukraine in organizing mutual return. The next priority is to provide returnees with the necessary range of medical care, operations and rehabilitation.
