Kyiv: the fire on Khreshchatyk was extinguished, the underground cable collector was on fire – emergency services

Rescuers extinguished a fire that broke out in the center of Kyiv in the morning, the State Emergency Service reported on January 15.

According to the service, “an underground cable collector caught fire” on Khreschatyk.

“Rescuers could not start extinguishing the fire for a long time due to the high voltage of 10,000 V, while waiting for permission from the power engineers. 45 rescuers and 10 pieces of equipment were working at the scene of the fire,” the report said.

The State Emergency Service adds that law enforcement officers will determine the cause of the fire.

Earlier, the Kyiv City State Administration reported that as a result of a fire at an electrical substation on Khreshchatyk, residents of four residential buildings were temporarily left without electricity.
