Boris Filatov commented on his sentence in Russia. The mayor of Dnipro called this a proof of his patriotism, but expressed regret that he will not be able to visit some countries now.

– I deliberately did not comment on this “news” yesterday. I will say briefly. Of course, this is pride. This is recognition of my services to my country. This is an answer to all the scum who periodically try to compromise me and tell me (especially from abroad) “who is more patriotic”… You can go on for a long time to laugh at such “sentences”, but it’s really not funny. Politics and war will end someday, but I will never go to, for example, Thailand or Egypt… – he wrote.

According to Filatov, Russians are “not stupid at all, “chmobics” and “vanyus”, as they tell us on the telethon.”

– They systematically and very consistently deal with everyone who has an influence on the capacity of our state, but not a single Basmanny or any other court on the other side of the border notices any of the potential collaborators, – he noted.

Filatov added that he was proud to be in the company of “convicts” in Russia, head of the SBU Vasyl Malyuk, head of the State Security Service Kyryll Budanov, Ukrainian military personnel and journalists.

On January 14, the Basmanny Court of Moscow sentenced Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov in absentia to nine years in prison for “fakes” about the Russian army and “inciting hatred.” The opposition Russian publication “Mediazon” suggested that the reason was Filatov’s post on social networks on April 3, 2022 about Bucha. In February 2024, Filatov was added to the list of “extremists and terrorists”.

  • On October 19, 2022, the mayor of Dnipro announced that he refused the record-breaking bribe.
  • On December 12, 2024, the chairman of the State Duma of Russia, Vyacheslav Volodin, was sentenced in absentia to 15 years in Ukraine.
