They were aimed at the voters and against the opponents – the Democrats.

Taras Zagorodniy, a political scientist and managing partner of the National Anti-Crisis Group, said this in an interview with UNIAN. He advises to forget “everything that Trump and the Republicans said about Ukraine during the election campaign.” According to Zagorodnyi, after the elections, everything starts with a clean slate – the next US administration begins to collect intelligence, form a team, and tries to understand what kind of world it is in.

“And then they will knock their foreheads against Putin, who will tell them his “historical” excursions about the Pechenegs and the Rurikovichs. He will tell Trump that he wants NATO’s military infrastructure to be dismantled, so that Sweden and Finland leave this alliance. Putin will put forward unrealistic demands , which he has publicly expressed. Trump will look at it and say, “Okay. Then he will follow plan B – Pompeo’s plan,” he explained.

Zagorodnyi recalled that former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo suggested that Ukraine should build up significant defense forces to prevent a new Russian attack. He also spoke about the fact that no one recognizes the occupation of the territories of Ukraine, and Crimea should be demilitarized.

In addition, the “Pompeo plan” provides for Ukraine’s accession to NATO as soon as possible, and the European Union “must quickly accept Ukraine and help it modernize its economy,” the political scientist added.

At the same time, he emphasized that no one is going to abandon Ukraine. According to him, the US will not cut aid.

“The support will be at the level of that provided by US President Joe Biden, whose mandate is ending, or even more. Trump tells everyone that he does not want a meeting with Putin, but that it is the Russian dictator who initiates it. Thus, the newly elected US president puts Putin in a subordinate position a situation that greatly “exasperates” the ruler of the Russian Federation, because he wants equal partnership agreements and conversations. And Trump, in fact, answers him: “I am the boss here. And who are you?”, he continued.

According to Zagorodny, it does not matter when a potential meeting between Donald Trump and Russian President Putin will take place. The main thing is that there is no subject of conversation:

“There is nothing to agree on. Putin, although he is a KGBist, but he is a moron – he has already laid all his cards on the table, that is, a negotiating position, when he declared that for a ceasefire, Ukraine must leave Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Donetsk regions.”

Russia has nothing to trade, since the world will never recognize the “annexation” of four Ukrainian regions. Blackmail by war in the Middle East will not work, because Moscow has lost its influence in Syria. As for Russian oil and gas, the US will gladly replace their supplies to the EU with its own goods, the political scientist stated.

Trump and Ukraine: You might have missed itBloomberg writes that Donald Trump will not force Ukraine to start premature negotiations with the Russian Federation and will be more “flexible” than the allies expected. It is noted that the future US leader risks suffering a humiliation that can be compared to Biden’s chaotic departure from Afghanistan, if he refuses to support Kyiv. At the same time, if Russia wins such a victory, it will only push China to more aggressive actions.

In addition, US President-elect Donald Trump made a new statement about a possible meeting with Vladimir Putin. The Republican did not specify the time frame for her to resign, but noted that she plans to do so as soon as possible after assuming the presidency.
